There are two words in the whole world that have magic in them. The words “epidural” and “Disneyland.” Since some of you probably read my “boy friend almost delivering Jack” birth story. You know the first magical word has already been covered. So lets talk DISNEYLAND!!!! Todd and I were lucky enough to go twice last year. We had a lot of years to make up for, since Todd hadn’t been since he was four. We took a trip with our dear friends the Ottesons. And let me tell you… when you’ve got young kids (under 42 inches) going with another couple is the KEY to Disneyland happiness. One couple would watch the kiddos while the other went on a ride, claimed a rider switch pass and so we each got sporadic 20 minute romantic Disneyland dates. And when we weren’t switching we were catching up enjoying every second of having our families together. Maybe I should include “rider switch pass” into the magical word bank?! I hit up Splash Mountain five times.
These photos are from day one of our November trip at California Adventure. We dined with the princess’s which I thought was actually worth the money since we didn’t have to spend any more of our time waiting in line to greet them. Went on rides, ate a dozen squished PB&J’s, had a hoot and holler at the parade, and watched our Jack Jack completely STEAL the show. I thought the award would go to our princess obsessed Lulu girl, but she had her moment in February’s trip. Jack was pure delight. A 18 month old, squishy little clapping ball of joy. I’ll never forget his first trip to D-town.
I don’t have any “big camera” photos from day two. And ya know what, I’m actually really sad about it. Partially because my outfit was so much more on point for day two 😉 I wanted to just “be in the moment” and not worry about capturing the moment. And looking at these pictures, I wish I would have been living and capturing. I DO think it is completely possible to do both. And that’s why I’ll never be leaving my trusty Nikon out again. Cell phone photos just don’t do it for me, plus I’m a mama! We are made for multi tasking. Day one I’ve got these photos, dozens of video’s AND memories all for keepsakes. Don’t leave your big camera home. Take it!! A few other tidbits of advice I’ve learned:
-There is a guide online to show you where hidden outlets are to charge your phone (thank you Abbey Kyhl)
– Mint Juleps are THE shiz
– The Aladdin show is hilarious, and totally worth going to.
– 17 months is NOT too young to take to Disneyland
– Take a tissue, because if you don’t cry at Disneyland you are not a human.
– H&M has awesome Disney clothes, Target has a selection too. But, if you can’t find anything before your trip the Walmart by Disneyland has tons of options too. Don’t you dare step foot into Disneyland without wearing something Disney. That’s just irreverent and disrespectful 😉
-Have fun, and if you aint losing a few Instagram followers in the process of your Disneyland trip you are doing it WRONG!!!
